The largest gold mine in South America is located in Peruvian Cajamarca. From the very beginning there has been resistance to the mine and its expansion. The photography project “Pensando and Alternativas” shows photographs taken by twelve women from three activist anti-mining organisations. With this project, Dr Katy Jenkins (Northumbria University, Great Britain) wanted to show the perspectives of women fighting large-scale mining in the Peruvian Andes. The photographs made by these women show their ideas, hope and faith. They make clear what development means to them in a context of large-scale mining. Their way of life, their food and the landscape are in danger.
Opening hours 11.00 – 16.00 (Monday – Wednesday) and 11.00 – 22.00 (Thursday – Friday)
