In its urge for a just society in which humankind and nature live together in harmony, CATAPA focuses on the impact of mining<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The exploitation of raw, non-renewable resources always comes with a social and ecological impact, and fuels conflict.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As a means of reaching a more just world, CATAPA denounces the injustices caused by mining. In fact, CATAPA actively seeks alternatives to mining.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

CATAPA actively contributes to the tempering of global warming and the loss of biodiversity, as the extraction of resources like minerals and fuels accounts for a significant share of the worldwide CO2-emissions and the loss of biodiversity on earth.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As a whole, CATAPA strives for a model in which raw, non-renewable materials can stay where they naturally belong, in the soil.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Humankind is reaching beyond the natural limits of our planet. The current growth-economy is built on an unstoppable demand, incentivizing an insatiable hunger for non-renewable raw materials, and is therefore irreconcilable with the boundaries of the planet. Unbalanced power relations put a continuous pressure on the relationships between people, and between people and the environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

CATAPA is a driving force in the transition to an economic system of <\/span>degrowth<\/strong>, thereby moving beyond the economy based on growth to build a society that lives more consciously and modestly and therefore reduces the need for new raw materials. The economy – in this case – serves social and ecological justice.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Herein, there is a shared responsibility for companies, politicians, bankers, consumers, academics and civil society. Demand and supply are to be adjusted to the capacity of our earth and the wellbeing of all people.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

CATAPA builds alliances with diverse movements worldwide in which the local, national and global struggles become interconnected. The intended change will stem from this global interconnectedness and solidarity. The strong connection with Latin-America is built into CATAPA\u2019s DNA.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

CATAPA engages in partnerships<\/strong> around the world to give a voice to human rights defenders, to protect them and empower them, and strives for a world free of all forms of oppression and exploitation, such as neoliberalism, neo-extractivism, neocolonialism, militarism etc. In this world, the right to self-determination is to be guaranteed for all<\/strong> communities, including those faced with such forms of domination.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Through creative approaches and solutions to mining-related societal problems and through its lively campaigns, CATAPA aims to increase critical and active citizenship in a peaceful manner.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As a movement, CATAPA has a horizontal structure with a strong voluntary and dynamic character. <\/span><\/p>\n
